TxDOT contracted SLA to design a new administration facility located at the existing Waco District headquarters. The realignment of Interstate Hwy 35 provided additional undeveloped acreage to the site that was utilized for this project. The admin facility is a single-story building constructed with both conventional steel framing and pre-engineered metal building frames. The exterior is clad in brick veneer, horizontal metal wall panels, and aluminum storefront. It utilizes both prefinished standing seam roof systems and TPO roofing systems. The 10,000sf facility includes a community training room, public and secure access, secured administration space containing private and open office spaces, and utility spaces. The site has two parking lots, one for public use and one secured lot with motorized gates for TxDOT employees. Site landscaping is designed to emphasize the architecture and minimize the maintenance.
