Two Phases: Rolling Pin Barracks Renovations

More coming soon.

Fort Cavazos, Texas

SLA, as the Designer of Record, collaborated with Guyco, Inc. for two phases of renovations to Rolling Pin style barracks. The focus was on enhancing energy efficiency, mold prevention, and improving living conditions for our nation’s soldiers. The first project covered five barracks in the 12000 Block and totaled 240,000sf, while the second project included five barracks in the 16000 Block spanning approximately 220,000sf. Each of the barracks were three stories with a basement housing mechanical and Arms Vault rooms. The first floor in each building featured a Company Operations Facility (COF), including TA-50 Gear storage, offices, restrooms, and mail rooms. The two projects totaled 685 shared bedrooms for a total of 1270 soldiers. Each room was designed for two soldiers with separate amenities and shared common spaces such as kitchens, bathrooms, and showers. Other functions include Day Rooms on the second and third floors, laundry rooms, mail rooms, and public restrooms.
