SLA served as the architect on two projects to renovate H-Frame style barracks, one as the Designer of Record for Guyco, Inc., and the other as an architectural sub-consultant on the EDT team. The focus for both projects was to enhance energy efficiency, mold prevention, and improve living conditions for our nation’s soldiers. The first project included complete interior and exterior renovation of four barracks and a Central Energy Plant upgrade on the 9200 Block, and the second projects was for the renovation of four barracks on the 14000 Block. Key renovations encompassed gutting interior spaces, except COF areas, improving utilities, and installing new fire protection systems. Additionally, major floor settlement issues were addressed, vapor transmission was minimized, and energy efficiency was optimized. The design also incorporated individual bedrooms and closets for two soldiers per suite (896 soldiers total), shared amenities, and improved ventilation for comfort and health.
