TxDOT: Upgrades to Multiple Traffic Management Centers

More coming soon.

SLA has been contracted with TxDOT since the late 1990s to design many transportation facility types. This includes Traffic Management Centers.

The TransGuide facility in San Antonio serves as the control room and emergency command center for TxDOT, the City of San Antonio, TX Highway Dept, and VIA Transit. SLA’s scope consisted of upgrading the command center and associated workspaces so that the four agencies could work in tandem in the event of an incident to track and give direction toward corrective measures on the highway system in San Antonio.

SLA designed upgrades to the DalTrans Traffic Management Center located in Mesquite, Texas. DalTrans helps alleviate congestion as an intelligent transportation systems and traffic communications hub. The project replaces aging analog rear projection screens with forty seamlessly assembled 55-inch LCD video monitors to allow multiple configurations of high-definition video images for sharper displays.

Lastly, SLA completed the design for the TransVision Traffic Management Center located in Fort Worth, Texas. This center is responsible for the management of traffic operations for TxDOT’s Fort Worth District. The design for this project included the replacement of the existing rear-projection system and screen in the Control Room with a new seamless video wall (without borders between the video screens) including all associated mounting hardware. The new video wall is comprised of 40 (4x10) 55”display monitors integrated into the TxDOT ITS Network.
