Altus AFB, Oklahoma

SLA+Cyntergy JV was awarded a task order to renovate the Child Development Center, Bldg 53 at Altus AFB to comply with UFC 4-740-14 and other criteria. The design upgrades the facility to be a child-oriented, developmentally appropriate, environmentally sensitive, and functional childcare facility for the family of all military and civilian employees and retirees. Scope items include a new ICC 500 compliant storm shelter and upgrades to HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, communications, and electrical systems as well as interior finishes, outdoor fencing, landscaping, security, and ATFP. Recommendations were provided for the functional layout and color pallets of the various Child Activity Rooms (CARs) which were determined to be advantageous to youth learning environments. Project included multiple planning and design charrettes.
