Phase 1: Plant Expansion Planning Study

Oil States Industries, Inc. produces hundreds of custom metal and molded rubber products for use in the oil industry, both domestically and internationally.

The primary objective of this intensive study was to provide design criteria, concepts, and opinions of probable cost to aid in the determination for the short and long range goals for the Oil States Industries Lampasas Plant. Two options were developed then analyzed. The first maintains the plant at its current location with major renovations and additions for a total of 73,364sf. This design creates better plant functionality and brings the existing facility into current code compliance. The second option creates a completely new facility to be sited in the recently developed Lampasas Industrial Park. This 93,500sf concept provides a state-of-the-art highly functional facility for the production of oil field parts and equipment.

Phase 2: Plant Expansion Design

The 42,000sf warehouse project primarily houses a large open area for storage of manufactured products. Within the space, 16’ high storage racks are arranged for maximum efficiency. Also included in the project is a chemical storage room, administration offices, break/training room, shipping docks and support areas. A pre-engineered metal building system was utilized for structure and envelope including metal wall panels, roof panels, and building insulation. Due to the need for wide spans in an open warehouse environment, the Varco Pruden Building Continuous Truss Open Web (Wide Bay) Frame System was selected with a 25’-4” eave height. This allowed for 50’ x 60’ bays. All concrete floors were all sealed with a slip resistant coating for employee and forklift traffic.

Due to the nature of the site with elevation changes of 12’, a special ramp system was designed to transport products form the existing manufacturing facility to the new warehouse. Sitework was extensive in preparing the building pad, site utilities and infrastructure. Vehicle parking, truck parking, shipping docks, fire lane roads, and water detention were all designed to accommodate the warehouse and the future-planned expansion.
