SLA is proud to be the designer of choice for Rolling Meadows Retirement Community for two decades. SLA has completed three major projects including major renovations to the Atrium and social spaces as well as designing a new media center and swimming pool enclosure.

The initial scope for the Atrium included adding warm wood elements, updating the finishes and opening the dining room. Prior to the renovation, it lacked focus and direction. Relocating the Reception to the primary entrance allowed for more functional flow and clear wayfinding through the Lobby giving the Atrium a “Mainstreet” atmosphere. The space was completely transformed by cladding the existing columns, metal stair and railing in a traditional wood profile, as well as by tying the space together with a wainscot. All final finish selections, furniture and décor were chosen by Rolling Meadows staff, allowing them to take great ownership in deciding how the finished product should look. Amenities include the Royal Perk coffee bar, Dining Room, Communication Center, computer access with internet, Game Room and Knight Cap sports bar.

The Media Center project is located in a very restricted courtyard and consists of a two story structure with clear spans on both levels. The first floor contains an enclosure over an existing pool and exercise area and the second level provides for a new multi-purpose media center.
