Downtown Wichita Falls, Texas
SLA provided a conceptual package for the renovation of the historical building at 607 7th Street in Downtown Wichita Falls which is located within the Historic Depot Square District. The 2000sf, single-story building has deteriorated considerably over the decades to the point that most of the interior systems need to be replaced entirely. Known as Wichita Drug House, the building dates back to 1889 with the original rosettes and tie bar providing structural support for the awning which has preserved its historical placement. With complete drawings submitted, SLA and the owners engaged with Post Oak Preservation Solutions for historic tax credits. Specific elements had to be addressed for the building to meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation which included documentation of the interior conditions, storefront, signage, masonry, and skylights.
